The Making of the BKR Shop
As I was going to visit my sister in Oregon anyway, we took a big load of cash, got a couple of John’s friends and “organized” a photo shoot. As Bitch Kitty Racing activities go, this one worked out pretty well. I didn’t get in any fistfights (but then I was the only photographer), John had only one minor meltdown and the Cupcakes arrived on time.
Originally, we had hoped to shoot porno style, in a cheap hotel. As the day nudged closer and closer, I asked John if he had a location. “Na. No problem, I will find one tomorrow…”. This was on Tuesday, I was still trapped in rural Oregon with a vicious case of Jetlag aggravated by hangover. The photo shoot was scheduled for Thursday.
Then I realized that we had no concept. No props. No ideas. Nothing usual there, but I did panic. I quickly enlisted my sister, who has a bit more style than myself and grabbed another wad of cash and we were off. Meanwhile back in Seattle, John hit the thriftstroes. We were amazing coordinated and didn’t even disagree, let alone yell and scream.
Due to some Dog issues, my sister and I had to head to Portland first, then on to Seattle. Shopping had to be done there, which considering that I have never actually been in Portland added to the fun. Four shops and the absolute happiest salesperson I have ever met and we were back on the way.
Everyone had a lovely time, we went through several bottles of wine (with straws) and the cat eventually forgave us. The clerk at John’s local coop did semm a bit concerned that my sister kept going back for wine in the middle of the day, but such is the life at BKR Headquarters.
Do vist the shop though, those T-Shirts are sexy.
